Malahide sits on the coast of north County Dublin where the Broadmeadow estuary opens to the Irish Sea. On a map, the town fills a peninsula of land between the tidal estuary to the north and the open coast to the east, with the village centre and marina close to the water.
The town is best known for Malahide Castle, home of the Talbot family for around eight centuries, and its large demesne, now a public park with gardens and woodland. The DART and commuter rail line crosses the estuary on a causeway and connects the town directly with Dublin.
