Medina lies in Guanajuato on the broad plain of the Bajío, close to the city of León. From above, it sits in the zone where the metropolitan grid gives out and the countryside begins, so the map mixes compact residential blocks with open plots and roads that head off straight across the plain.
The Bajío is one of the most productive agricultural and industrial regions in Mexico, and León is widely known for its leather and footwear industry.
