Morales is a municipality in the south of Bolívar department, in the lowlands of the Magdalena river basin. The land here is low and flat, and water shapes it heavily. Rivers, channels and marshy lagoons, the ciénagas typical of this part of Colombia, spread across the landscape. The town itself sits close to the water and has a small, fairly regular grid of streets.
From above, the town is only a small group of blocks, while the surrounding wetlands take up most of the map. The edges of lagoons and wandering channels make irregular shapes that change with the seasons. Roads are few and short.
