Mugumu is the headquarters of Serengeti District in Tanzania's Mara Region, sitting on rolling grassland just west of Serengeti National Park. On a map the town appears as a loose cluster of streets and compounds around a few main roads, with smallholdings and scattered homesteads spreading into the savanna beyond.
