Nkoranza is a town in the Bono East region of central Ghana and the seat of a traditional area with a long history of its own. It lies in the transition zone where the southern forests give way to the savanna of the north, and farming shapes both the landscape and the rhythm of life. On the map, streets radiate from the centre along roads to neighbouring towns.
The area is known for the Boabeng-Fiema Monkey Sanctuary in the Nkoranza North district, where colobus and mona monkeys have long been protected by local tradition and live close to the villagers.
