Water lines arrive from two directions and leave as one broader channel heading south. The town fills the ground beside the confluence, with a modest street network that thins quickly into tracks and clearings.
As the capital of the Sangha-Mbaéré prefecture, Nola is a river town in the most literal sense. For a long time the Sangha was a working route through the forests of the southwest, and the settlement grew facing the water rather than any road.
