North Liberty lies in Johnson County, Iowa, between Iowa City and Cedar Rapids, along the corridor of Interstate 380. It was a small town for most of its history and grew rapidly in recent decades as a suburb for people working in both cities and at the University of Iowa.
The map reflects that growth. A small original centre is surrounded by newer residential developments: curving streets, loops and cul-de-sacs placed within the square mile grid of Midwestern country roads.
