Otradnoye lies in the Kirovsky District of Leningrad Oblast, on the southern bank of the Neva river as it flows from Lake Ladoga toward St Petersburg. The river dominates its map, a broad, steady band of water running along the town's northern edge. Streets and housing stretch in a long strip parallel to the bank, with forest and marshland pressing in from the south.
The layout is linear rather than centred. A main road and the railway run roughly alongside the river, and residential blocks, both apartment buildings and private houses, fill the ground between them.
