Pacajus lies inland in the state of Ceará, in the wider metropolitan area of Fortaleza, south of the coast. From above, the town has a clear, compact core. A grid of short streets around the central square and church gives way to newer neighbourhoods, while main roads leave town toward the capital and the interior.
The surroundings are flat to gently rolling, with farmland, scattered settlements and the dry vegetation typical of northeastern Brazil.
