Przasnysz lies in northern Mazovia, in a wide agricultural landscape north of Warsaw. From above, the town reads as a compact centre with a market square at its heart. Roads fan out from it toward neighbouring towns, and the Węgierka river passes nearby, adding a winding line that softens the otherwise straight pattern of roads and field boundaries.
The historic core keeps the proportions of a Polish market town: a square surrounded by short streets and narrow plots, with a former Bernardine monastery among its older buildings.
