Qaşr-e Qand lies in Sistan and Baluchestan province, in the dry, mountainous south-east of Iran. The land is harsh and open, and water decides where people settle. On the map, the town and its cultivated land follow a valley, where streets and palm groves gather along the lower ground. Bare hills rise on either side.
