Redhill sits in east Surrey, just east of Reigate and below the chalk escarpment of the North Downs. The town grew around its railway station on the London to Brighton main line, and from above the rail lines are its clearest structure. Tracks converge from several directions at the junction, and the town centre and its surrounding streets pack themselves into the spaces between.
To the south, Earlswood Common and its lakes open up a large green area, and farther out, Redhill Aerodrome occupies flat land beyond the town.
