Reston Map Poster & Print
Reston lies in Fairfax County, west of Washington DC. It was founded in 1964 by Robert E. Simon as one of the first modern planned communities in the United States, and the name comes from his initials. On the map, curving streets and cul-de-sacs wrap around lakes and wooded areas, with village centres placed throughout.
Four man-made lakes, including Lake Anne and Lake Thoreau, are central to the design, as is a large network of walking paths. The Dulles Toll Road and the Metro Silver Line run through the middle, and Reston Town Center forms a denser core near them.
