Rugeley lies in Staffordshire on the edge of Cannock Chase, where the heath and woodland of the Chase meet the valley of the River Trent. On the map, the town centre forms a compact cluster of streets, with housing estates extending to the south and west and the Trent running along its northern and eastern edges.
