Sarzana Map Poster & Print
Sarzana lies in the far east of Liguria, in the Val di Magra near the border with Tuscany. The town's historic centre is compact and roughly rectangular, crossed lengthwise by its main street, and it is still partly enclosed by fortifications. The Magra river runs to the west across a broad, flat plain toward the sea.
Two fortresses dominate the town. The Fortezza Firmafede, also known as the Cittadella, stands at the edge of the old town, while the Fortezza di Sarzanello sits on a hill above it. Sarzana lies on the Via Francigena pilgrimage route, and the ruins of the Roman city of Luni are close by on the plain.
A Sarzana map poster captures the clarity of the historic plan, the geometric outline of the fortress and the open plain leading to the river. Hills rise immediately to the east, adding contrast. It is a map with both precise structure and a sense of the landscape around it.

Magra plain
West of the town, the Magra river crosses a broad, flat plain on its way to the sea, framing the composition with open ground.
