Sédhiou is the capital of the Sédhiou Region in southern Senegal, in the Casamance area between The Gambia and Guinea-Bissau. The town stands on the Casamance River, and the river dominates the map: a wide channel with soft curves and marshy margins, running along the edge of the town.
