Shelādiz Map Poster & Print
Shelādiz is a town in the Duhok Governorate of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, in the mountains close to the Turkish border. The terrain here is steep and folded. On a map the town stretches out along the valley where the land allows, rather than spreading in every direction.
Roads into and out of town follow the lines of the mountains. They curl along slopes and valley floors in long, twisting routes, and on paper those roads describe the relief of the landscape even without contour lines.
A Shelādiz map poster is shaped by what is not built as much as by what is. Most of the frame is mountain, left as open space, and the town and its roads trace the few routes the terrain permits. The effect is spare and quite striking.

Winding mountain roads
Routes into Shelādiz twist along the slopes. Their curling paths are the most expressive lines on the print and hint at the steep ground.
Border highlands
The town lies in high country near the Turkish border. Wide areas of mountain appear on the map as open, unbuilt space.

People from the Duhok mountains, or those with family ties to the region, often want a precise picture of their valley. The strong mountain roads make even a small town read well at a large size.
Personalise the title and subtitle with a name, place or date, and keep or edit the coordinates. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the road-drawing character especially well.
