Shihao is a town in the Chongqing municipality of southwest China, in hilly country south of the main urban area. From above, the landscape decides everything. The streets follow valley floors and contour lines, and the built area stretches out where the ground allows rather than spreading evenly in all directions.
This part of Chongqing is known for its folded terrain, with ridges, narrow valleys and farmland cut into the slopes. Around Shihao, lanes and paths climb between fields and small settlements, and the road network splits and bends as it follows the land.
