Shrigonda is a taluka town in Ahilyanagar district, formerly Ahmednagar, in western Maharashtra. It lies on the Deccan plateau, where the land is mostly flat to gently rolling, and farming depends on irrigation. Sugarcane is an important crop in the area, and the town serves as a market and service centre for the surrounding villages.
The centre of Shrigonda is a dense area of narrow streets around the older part of town, and newer residential areas spread out along the main roads. Around the edges, the map changes to fields, farm tracks and small water channels. The regular shapes of the fields contrast with the irregular lanes of the old centre.
