Solon is a suburban city in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, southeast of Cleveland. From above, its layout mixes several patterns. Curving residential streets end in loops and cul-de-sacs, large rectangular business and industrial parks sit along the main roads, and green corridors follow creeks and woodland through the city.
The city is known for its strong public schools and for a substantial commercial and industrial base, with a number of companies headquartered or operating in its business parks. Solon grew from a rural township into a planned suburb over the twentieth century, and its layout still reflects that deliberate growth.
