Stony Plain is a town in Parkland County, Alberta, just west of Edmonton and next to Spruce Grove. It grew as a farming and railway community and still sits on open prairie, with farmland on all sides. On a map its older core is a compact grid of streets. Highway 16A runs along the north side of town, a straight east-west line that ties Stony Plain to the city. A railway line passes through as well.
