Sūjāngarh is a town in Churu district of northern Rajasthan, on the eastern fringe of the Thar Desert. The land around it is flat and sandy, so the map has few natural features to follow; instead it is shaped by a dense old centre of irregular lanes and by the roads and railway line that leave it in straight lines across open country.
The town is a local hub for a region best known beyond Rajasthan for two nearby places. The Salasar Balaji temple, one of the state's major Hanuman shrines, lies to the east and draws large numbers of pilgrims, while Tal Chhapar sanctuary to the north protects grasslands known for their herds of blackbuck.
