Suwałki Map Poster & Print
Suwałki lies in the far northeast of Poland, close to the Lithuanian border. The town was laid out largely in the nineteenth century, and its centre still follows a regular grid of long, straight streets. The Czarna Hańcza river passes along the edge of the centre, adding a winding line to the otherwise orderly plan.
The region is known for its lakes, hills and forests. Wigry National Park and Suwałki Landscape Park are both close by, and the area has some of the coldest winters in Poland. Suwałki has also become well known internationally because of the Suwałki Gap, the narrow strip of land between Belarus and the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad.
