Szczytno Map Poster & Print
Szczytno lies in southern Warmia-Masuria, in a region of forests and glacial lakes. The town is built between two lakes, Domowe Duże and Domowe Małe, and on a map they frame it from both sides. The old centre sits on the narrow strip of land between them, and the streets bend around the shorelines.
The town's origins go back to a castle of the Teutonic Order, and its remains still stand near the lakeside. Szczytno is also known in Poland as the home of the national Police Academy, whose grounds form a large, orderly block within the town.
Beyond the edges the map gives way to forest and farmland, with more lakes scattered across the region. The international airport at nearby Szymany serves the Masurian lake district. A Szczytno map poster shows a small town whose shape was set by water, with the streets fitted around both lakes.

The remains of the Teutonic Order castle stand near the water at the historic core, where the town began and where the oldest street pattern survives.
