Tha Kham is the main town of Phunphin district in Surat Thani province, southern Thailand. It sits on the low plain west of the provincial capital, close to the Tapi river as it nears the Gulf of Thailand. The town is an important transport point: Surat Thani railway station is located here, on the Southern Line.
That role shows on the map. The railway runs through town as a firm, straight line, main roads converge around it, and the streets near the station form a compact grid of shophouse blocks. Further out, the built area spreads more loosely among fields and plantations.
