Triggiano lies a short distance inland and south of Bari, in Apulia. It is part of the ring of towns around the regional capital. The landscape is flat and dry, typical of the Terra di Bari. Olive groves and orchards are divided by roads and low stone walls, and the Adriatic coast is not far away.
From above, Triggiano has the classic structure of many southern Italian towns. A tight, irregular old centre of narrow lanes sits in the middle, and a more regular grid of later streets surrounds it. Beyond that, the urban area gives way to agricultural land, where straight country roads and field boundaries mark out olive groves.
