Twinsburg lies in northern Summit County, between Cleveland and Akron, on land that was once part of the Connecticut Western Reserve. Its centre keeps the pattern early settlers brought from New England: a rectangular village green with roads leading away from it in several directions. On a map that square is the clear point from which the rest of the city grows.
The town takes its name from Moses and Aaron Wilcox, identical twins who were among its founders in the early nineteenth century. That origin inspired Twins Days, an annual festival held each August that has become one of the largest gatherings of twins in the world. Few towns have a name and a tradition that fit together so neatly.
Beyond the green, curving suburban streets, industrial parks near the highway and stretches of woodland along creeks make up the rest of the map.
