Yateley is a town in northeast Hampshire, near the Surrey and Berkshire borders and close to Camberley, Farnborough and Sandhurst. It grew from a small village into a sizeable residential town during the second half of the twentieth century, and the map shows that history clearly.
The street pattern is typical of post-war English suburbs: curving roads lead into loops and cul-de-sacs, and the older village roads run through them. To the south lies Yateley Common, a large area of heath and woodland. To the north, the River Blackwater and its string of lakes and old gravel pits mark the county boundary.
