Yomra lies on the Black Sea coast just east of Trabzon, in north-eastern Turkey. On a map, the town is a narrow band. It follows the coastal highway and the shoreline, with valleys and steep hillsides rising immediately inland. Streets run along the coast and then climb in irregular lines up the slopes.
The land behind the town is typical of this coast: green, wet and steep, covered in hazelnut orchards and small settlements. Yomra is known locally for its apples. Its position close to Trabzon's airport and growing suburbs has also drawn new housing along the shore.
