Yousuo is a town in the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan, in a highland basin north of Erhai Lake. Mountains close in on both sides, and the town occupies the flat ground between them. From above it shows a mix of newer blocks and older lanes, with farmland patterned across the basin floor and roads following the valley.
The Bai are the prefecture's namesake community, and the wider region is known for its mountain scenery and farming valleys. Yousuo is a local centre within that landscape, and much of its character comes from the basin itself: flat land for the town and its fields, steep slopes left to forest.
