Yufengshan lies in the Yubei area north of central Chongqing, a municipality known for its mountainous terrain. From above, the town reflects that geography: streets bend around hills, roads climb and switch back across slopes, and built-up areas occupy the flatter pockets of land between them. Farmland and wooded ridges still surround much of the settlement.
Chongqing's rapid growth has pushed development outward from the river junction at its core, and towns on the edge of the metropolis show that change clearly on a map.
