Star-shaped fortifications
The ramparts and moat trace angular bastions around the old town, a sharp geometric outline that stands out clearly against the softer lines of the surrounding landscape.

Zaltbommel Map Poster & Print
Zaltbommel sits on the south bank of the Waal in Gelderland, at the northern edge of the Bommelerwaard. From above, the old town is instantly recognisable: a compact centre surrounded by bastioned ramparts and a moat, forming the angular star shape of a Dutch fortress town. Just beyond it, the river spreads wide with its floodplains and dikes.
Two major crossings span the Waal next to the town, the road bridge carrying the A2 motorway and the railway bridge, and they give the map strong straight lines over water. Inside the walls, the streets run along the length of the town toward the river, with the Gasthuistoren gate tower marking one of the old entrances.
A Zaltbommel map poster is one of the most satisfying compositions in the Netherlands: the sharp geometry of the fortifications, the soft curves of the river, and the long bridges reaching north. Newer neighbourhoods and polders extend south, but the walled core remains the clear centre of the drawing.

The river Waal
The broad river passes along the northern side of the town, flanked by floodplains and dikes, filling the upper part of the poster with open water.
Two bridges
Road and railway bridges cross the Waal side by side near the town, drawing long, parallel lines from the fortress toward the northern bank.

Zaltbommel's walled core is compact enough to be read in a single glance, which makes it well suited to a poster. It is a fitting piece for residents, for people who grew up in the Bommelerwaard, or for anyone drawn to fortress towns.
You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint suits the engineering precision of the ramparts and bridges particularly well.
