Zhongduo is the seat of Youyang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County, in the far southeast of Chongqing. The town sits in the Wuling mountain region, where flat ground is scarce, so the built-up area stretches along valley floors and wraps around the base of steep slopes. Youyang is home to large Tujia and Miao communities, and the county is known for its mountain scenery and cultural traditions.
