Ridge-top villages
Houses gather on crests and spurs rather than in the valleys, so the map shows several small street clusters spread across the commune instead of one centre.

Boudjima Map Poster & Print
Boudjima is a commune in the Tizi Ouzou province of Algeria, in the hill country of Greater Kabylie north of the provincial capital. It is not one compact town. It is a group of villages spread over ridges and spurs. On a map that shows up as small clusters of streets sitting on high ground, with gaps of open slope, orchard and scrub between them.
The road network is what gives the area its shape. Lanes climb from the valleys, bend around the contours and meet at the crests where the houses gather. Seen from above, these lines read almost like a drawing of the terrain, because each curve records a slope that the builders had to go around.
A Boudjima map poster reduces all of this to thin black lines on white. Without colour or relief shading, the pattern of settlement becomes the subject: tight knots of streets on the ridges, loose threads of road between them, and the empty space that stands for the hillsides of Kabylie.

Contour-following roads
Roads loop and switch back to handle the gradients. On paper they form long, curving lines that trace the landform without needing any shading.
Open hillsides
The ground between villages is mostly farmland and scrub, and it appears as quiet white space that gives the dense clusters room on the page.

For families with roots in Kabylie, a map of Boudjima can hold a particular village, the road to it and the ridge it sits on. It is a picture of home drawn only in lines, and it works on a wall far from Algeria as well as in a house near Tizi Ouzou.
You can change the title and subtitle, for example to a village name or a family date, and edit the coordinates line. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to suit the room.
