Hilltop old quarter
The historic centre crowns a rise above the valley. Narrow, winding streets step down its slopes and form the densest part of the map.

Calahorra Map Poster & Print
Calahorra is in the east of La Rioja, on a rise above the Ebro valley, near the point where the Cidacos river joins the Ebro. It is one of the oldest towns in Spain. As Calagurris it was an important Roman city, and it is traditionally named as the birthplace of the rhetorician Quintilian.
The map shows its history in layers. The old quarter sits on high ground, a tight tangle of streets descending towards the rivers. The cathedral stands on lower ground near the Cidacos. Newer districts extend across the flatter land in a more regular pattern, and irrigated farmland surrounds the whole. Calahorra is known across Spain for its vegetables, especially peppers and other produce from the fertile Ebro plain.
A Calahorra map poster brings together the dense upper town, the two rivers and the patchwork of fields in one frame. Its elevated position and the river confluence give the plan a clear shape, a strong subject for a minimalist black-and-white print.

River confluence
The Cidacos meets the Ebro near the town. The two rivers frame the lower ground and give the composition its natural boundaries.
Irrigated huertas
Fertile market gardens spread across the flat land around town. Their small plots create a fine field pattern around the urban area.
