Nested temple streets
The main streets follow the temple walls on all four sides, so the centre of the map shows square inside square, a layout shaped by processions rather than traffic.

Chidambaram Map Poster & Print
Seen from above, Chidambaram arranges itself around a single centre. The Thillai Nataraja Temple occupies a large rectangular enclosure, and the main streets run parallel to its walls in nested squares, the way many old Tamil temple towns were laid out. Beyond that core the grid loosens into lanes, tanks and newer residential blocks that spread across the flat delta land.
The town sits on the low coastal plain of Tamil Nadu, a short distance inland from the Bay of Bengal, with the Kollidam and Vellar rivers reaching the sea to the north and south. The Nataraja temple is known across India for its image of Shiva as the cosmic dancer and for its gold-roofed inner hall, and it gives the whole street plan its orientation.
A Chidambaram map poster turns that order into clean lines. The temple becomes a bold rectangle at the heart of the sheet, the car streets frame it like a border, and the Annamalai University campus to the east adds a looser pattern of roads and open ground. It is a plan that reads clearly even at the smallest print size.

Temple tanks
Rectangular water tanks punctuate the town, appearing on the poster as small crisp blocks that echo the geometry of the temple enclosure itself.
University campus
Annamalai University spreads over a broad area on the eastern side, its curving internal roads and open fields contrasting with the tight grid of the old centre.

Chidambaram draws pilgrims, dancers, scholars and former students of the university, and many keep a lasting connection to the place. A print of its street plan is a quiet way to mark a visit, a graduation or a family origin without resorting to a photograph.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can all be changed, so you can add a name, a date or a line in Tamil. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to suit the room where it will hang.
