The eastern shoreline
The town follows the coast of Nias closely. The long, gently curving line of the shore frames the whole map and leaves a calm expanse of open water on one side.

Gunungsitoli Map Poster & Print
Gunungsitoli is the largest town on Nias, an island in the Indian Ocean off the west coast of Sumatra. It lies on the island's eastern shore, and from above it reads as a long, narrow settlement. A coastal road runs parallel to the sea, and from it shorter streets climb inland onto rising, forested ground. The name itself refers to hills, and the terrain makes that clear on any map.
The town is the main gateway to Nias and its administrative and trading centre. It is home to a museum dedicated to Nias heritage, an island culture known for its megalithic traditions and distinctive architecture. Gunungsitoli was badly damaged in the 2005 earthquake that struck Nias, and much of the town has been rebuilt since then.
A Gunungsitoli map poster captures a town caught between water and hills. The shoreline forms one clean edge of the composition. Parallel roads follow it, and a finer web of lanes and small rivers reaches back into the interior. Printed in monochrome, the contrast between the flat open sea and the busy strip of streets gives the poster an unusually strong horizontal rhythm.

Coastal road spine
A main road runs along the length of the town, parallel to the sea. Most streets branch off it, so the town has a clear linear backbone.
Hills behind town
Inland, roads twist up into hilly, wooded country. Their curving lines break the orderly coastal strip and hint at the island's rugged interior.
