Haldwani Map Poster & Print
Haldwani is the largest city in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand and sits right where the flat Gangetic plains meet the first ridges of the Himalayan foothills. On a map, the town spreads broadly across level ground in a fairly regular pattern. To the north, the land rises sharply, and roads begin to twist into the hills. The wide, stony bed of the Gaula river runs along one side.
Together with Kathgodam, its northern neighbour and the region's railway terminus, Haldwani works as the gateway to the Kumaon hills. Travellers heading to Nainital, Almora and other hill towns pass through here, and the city has grown into the main commercial and educational centre for the surrounding area.
A Haldwani map poster shows that transition from plain to hill very clearly. The southern part of the frame is filled with a grid of neighbourhoods and markets. As the map moves north, the streets thin out and the hill roads begin. The riverbed adds a strong, pale band, making the composition both structured and dramatic.

Haldwani is home to many Kumaoni families and a familiar stop for everyone who travels to the hills. A map of the town captures the moment the mountains begin, which makes it a thoughtful piece for any home.
Add a title, a family name or date, or the coordinates line, and pick from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint highlights the contrast between grid and hills well.
