Orinda Map Poster & Print
Orinda lies in Contra Costa County, just east of the Berkeley Hills and the Caldecott Tunnel. It is a residential town set among steep, wooded hills, and its map looks almost nothing like a grid. Roads curve along canyons, climb ridges and end in quiet cul-de-sacs, leaving large areas of open slope in between.
The centre is small and sits around Highway 24, which crosses the town from west to east with a BART line running in its median. On either side of the freeway lie Orinda's two compact commercial areas, including the art deco Orinda Theatre, a local landmark. To the north the land opens toward San Pablo Reservoir and regional parkland.
An Orinda map poster captures the town's distinctive pattern: long, looping roads threading through hills, the straight line of the freeway and rail corridor, and wide pale spaces of undeveloped slope. With neighbouring Lafayette and Moraga, it forms the area locals call Lamorinda.

Winding hill roads
Residential roads trace canyons and ridgelines in long, irregular curves. The result is an intricate, organic pattern that gives the poster much of its character.
Open slopes
Wooded hillsides and parkland remain largely free of streets, so the map is full of soft white space between the curving residential roads.
