River Dodder
The Dodder winds along the northern side of the area, and its irregular curve cuts across the regular suburban pattern. Linear parkland along the banks gives it a soft, continuous outline.

Rathfarnham Map Poster & Print
Rathfarnham stretches across the southern suburbs of Dublin, from the valley of the River Dodder up towards the slopes of the Dublin Mountains. The map shows curving suburban roads and cul-de-sacs, with a few older routes cutting through that carry the village's earlier shape. Green space is unusually generous here, and it breaks the housing into distinct neighbourhoods.
At its heart is Rathfarnham Castle, a sixteenth-century fortified house whose grounds are now a public park. A little further south, Marlay Park spreads out as one of the city's largest green spaces. St Enda's Park, once home to Patrick Pearse's school, adds another area of wooded open ground.
A Rathfarnham map poster brings these features together. The winding river, the historic village roads, the loops of residential streets and the open parks sit side by side. The mountains start just past the southern edge, and you can feel them in how the streets thin out and the roads begin to climb.

Castle and demesne
Rathfarnham Castle and its grounds form a compact, open block near the old village centre. It's one of the most recognisable historic landmarks in south Dublin.
Marlay Park
The broad expanse of Marlay Park opens up to the south. Its paths and woodland stand out as a large calm area against the dense housing around it.
