Swords Map Poster & Print
Swords is the county town of Fingal, north of Dublin, and its map shows an old centre surrounded by newer estates. Main Street runs north to south through the historic core, with Swords Castle at its northern end. The Ward River passes through the town and flows east toward the Broadmeadow estuary and the sea.
The town has deep roots: it is associated with a monastic settlement traditionally linked to Saint Colmcille, and a round tower still stands beside the church. Swords Castle, a medieval stronghold of the Archbishops of Dublin, has been restored. Dublin Airport lies just to the south, and the M1 runs along the town's western side.
A Swords map poster brings together these different layers: the single historic street, the looping roads of residential areas, the river corridor, and the wide open estuary to the east. It is a map that reads clearly even at small sizes.

Broadmeadow estuary
To the east the land opens into a wide estuary, where the street grid ends and the coastline breaks into water and marsh.
