Thanneermukkom Map Poster & Print
Thanneermukkom lies on the shores of Vembanad Lake in Kerala, in the backwater region between Alappuzha and Kottayam. From above, the map is dominated by water: the broad lake, narrow canals and the paddy fields reclaimed from the lake, with houses and roads following strips of higher ground.
The village is known for the Thanneermukkom Bund, a long barrier across Vembanad Lake built to keep seawater out of the Kuttanad paddy fields during the dry season. It is often described as the largest mud regulator in India, and it has shaped both farming and ecology in the area.
A Thanneermukkom map poster captures the unusual balance of land and water in the Kerala backwaters. The lake provides wide open space, the bund draws a clear line across it and the canals and field boundaries add fine detail. In black and white, it is calm and distinctly local.

Vembanad Lake
Kerala's largest lake spreads across much of the frame. Its wide surface gives the design a sense of openness and calm.
Canals and paddies
Narrow waterways and paddy fields fill the land around the village. They create a delicate pattern of lines typical of the backwaters.
