Andalucía sits in the flat, fertile valley of the Cauca River in Colombia's Valle del Cauca department, between the larger towns of Buga and Tuluá. The town follows the Spanish colonial pattern still visible across the region: a regular grid of blocks organised around a central plaza, with the main road through the valley passing close by.
Around the town, the valley floor is given over largely to sugar cane, the crop that defines much of Valle del Cauca. From above, the plantations form large, smooth blocks divided by straight farm roads and irrigation channels. To the west the Cauca River winds across the plain, and to the east the land rises toward the Cordillera Central.
