Highland wetland
Open water and marsh create soft, irregular shapes on the map, contrasting with the narrow roads and small field boundaries surrounding them.

Beihai Map Poster & Print
This Beihai lies in the far west of Yunnan province, in the Tengchong area, a long way from the coastal city of the same name in Guangxi. The landscape here is upland country shaped by old volcanic activity, and the map reflects it: roads follow valleys and the edges of hills, and settlements gather on the flatter ground between them.
The area is associated with the Beihai wetland, a highland lake known for its floating mats of grass and reeds, and the wider Tengchong region is known for its volcanic cones and hot springs. On a map, this means pale areas of water and marsh set against a patchwork of fields, village lanes and winding country roads.
A Beihai map poster shows a place where the ground itself sets the layout. Instead of a formal grid, the lines of the map bend around slopes and water, and clusters of houses sit where the land allows. Rendered in black and white, it becomes a calm drawing of a rural Yunnan landscape.

Volcanic uplands
The Tengchong area is known for volcanic landforms, and the terrain shows in roads that curve around hills rather than running straight.
Village clusters
Houses gather in compact groups on level ground, linked by lanes that spread outward into the farmland in a loose, branching pattern.
