Crater lakes
Several near-circular lakes lie in and around the town, and their steep rims shape the roads and plots. On the poster they read as clean, solid forms that immediately identify Bishoftu.

Bishoftu Map Poster & Print
Bishoftu, long known as Debre Zeyit, lies in the Oromia region about forty-five kilometres south-east of Addis Ababa. Water makes its map unusual. Several volcanic crater lakes surround the town, almost circular in outline and set into the landscape like deliberate cut-outs. Streets and resort grounds bend around their rims, giving the urban area an irregular, lobed shape.
The best-known lakes include Hora, Bishoftu and Babogaya. Lake Hora Arsadi hosts the annual Irreecha thanksgiving celebration of the Oromo people, which draws very large crowds each autumn. The town is also home to a major Ethiopian Air Force base, whose airfield appears as a long straight runway at the edge of the map.
A Bishoftu map poster puts these rounded forms at the heart of the design. The crater lakes appear as bold, solid shapes, the main road toward Adama cuts a clear diagonal, and the town's streets fill the spaces in between. The composition looks almost abstract, yet every curve comes from the geology beneath it.

Lake Hora Arsadi
The lake used for the Irreecha celebration sits close to the town. Its rounded basin and shoreline become a focal point during the annual gathering.
Air base runway
The long, straight runway of the air force base forms one of the strongest lines on the map, in sharp contrast to the curving lake shores nearby.

Zakaj Bishoftu
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Bishoftu matters to many people for different reasons: Irreecha, a weekend by the lakes, a family home or years of service at the air base. A map that shows the crater lakes clearly is a simple, meaningful way to keep that connection visible.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, using either Bishoftu or Debre Zeyit as you prefer. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Buy all six print sizes as 300 DPI PNG and PDF files for $9, or order a matte printed poster.
