The southern highway
The main road from Addis Ababa to Hawassa runs straight through town, giving the map a dominant north–south line that everything else seems to hang from.

Shashamane Map Poster & Print
Shashamane sits in the Oromia region, on the main road that runs south from Addis Ababa through the Rift Valley towards Hawassa. Its position as a junction shapes the whole map. The highway forms a strong spine, and secondary roads branch away east and west, making the town an important stop for trade and transport across southern Ethiopia.
The town is widely known for its Rastafari community, which settled on land linked to a grant made by Emperor Haile Selassie in the mid-twentieth century. Around the commercial core the street network becomes looser and more irregular. Residential compounds, markets and farm plots blend into the agricultural landscape that surrounds the town on all sides.
A Shashamane map poster captures the logic of a road town. It shows a clear axis, a knot of streets where routes converge and a gradual thinning into countryside. Printed in monochrome, the drawing is spare and legible. It is more about movement and connection than monuments, which is how the place tends to be experienced.

Junction streets
Where regional roads split off, the street pattern tightens into a denser commercial knot of markets, depots and shops before spreading out again into residential areas.
Rift Valley farmland
Beyond the built-up area the map loosens into fields and scattered settlements on the floor of the Rift Valley, with lakes lying not far to the north and south.
