Bowie Map Poster & Print
Bowie is the largest city in Prince George's County, Maryland, set between Washington and Annapolis. From above it is a classic postwar suburb: curving roads, loops and cul-de-sacs laid out in neighbourhood sections, with wooded stream valleys and parks threading between them and major highways marking the edges.
Much of the city grew from Belair at Bowie, a large development built by Levitt and Sons beginning in the 1960s on land that had been part of the Belair estate. The eighteenth-century Belair Mansion and the nearby stable, once home to famous racehorses, still stand among the neighbourhoods.
A Bowie map poster shows the rhythm of this planned suburb, where individual sections read as distinct shapes of looping streets. The result is surprisingly graphic, a pattern unlike an old city grid but just as recognisable to those who live there.

Belair Mansion
The historic estate house and its grounds sit among the suburban streets, a reminder of the plantation land from which the city grew.
Stream valleys
Wooded corridors follow small streams through the city, and the Patuxent River marks the eastern edge, adding soft natural lines between the neighbourhoods.
