Coatzintla Map Poster & Print
Coatzintla lies in northern Veracruz, directly beside Poza Rica, and from above the two form one continuous urban area. The town's own streets mix older blocks around its centre with newer neighbourhoods that climb gentle slopes and follow small valleys. As a result, the grid bends and breaks wherever the terrain demands it.
The region is known for oil. The growth of Poza Rica's petroleum industry in the twentieth century pulled Coatzintla into a much larger metropolitan area. This is also Totonac country, and the archaeological site of El Tajín lies a short distance away, a reminder that the area mattered long before the wells were drilled.
A Coatzintla map poster frames the point where a town meets a city. The denser pattern of Poza Rica lies on one side, streams and wooded hills on the other, and highways stitch them together. It is a map of transition, and in black and white the change in texture from grid to countryside becomes its most striking feature.

Streets on the slopes
Newer neighbourhoods follow the rolling terrain, so blocks curve along hillsides and valleys instead of keeping to a strict grid. This gives the print a more organic look.
Streams and green ground
Small watercourses and patches of vegetation cut between built-up areas. The irregular open spaces they leave break up the density and add contrast to the composition.
