Compton Map Poster & Print
Compton lies in the middle of southern Los Angeles County, and its old nickname, Hub City, comes from that central position. The map shows a flat, orderly grid of residential streets, typical of the Los Angeles basin. Major boulevards and the rail corridors carrying freight between the ports and downtown cut across it.
Compton Creek runs through the city in a concrete channel, and the 91 and 710 freeways mark its edges and cross points. There is also a small general aviation airport. The city has a strong cultural reputation as a birthplace of West Coast hip-hop, and it is where Venus and Serena Williams learned tennis on public courts.
A Compton map poster strips all of that down to lines. It shows long straight streets, the diagonal of the creek, the wide bands of freeways and rail, and the open rectangle of the airfield. In black and white, it is precise and understated, a map of a city that has always meant more than its size.

Rail and freeways
Freight rail corridors and the 91 and 710 freeways form wide bands on the map, framing neighbourhoods and linking the city to the ports.
Compton/Woodley Airport
The small municipal airport shows as a clean open rectangle with runways, a distinctive shape within the dense residential fabric.
