Dongcheng Map Poster & Print
Dongcheng lies in the north-west of Hainan, China's tropical island province, in the gently rolling countryside of Danzhou. It is a rural town rather than a city district, and from above it appears as a compact cluster of streets and buildings around its main roads, surrounded by a wide mosaic of fields, orchards and plantation land.
This part of Hainan has long been associated with rubber and other tropical crops, and the landscape around towns like Dongcheng is divided into regular plots and plantation blocks. The coast of the Beibu Gulf is not far to the west, and small villages are scattered through the farmland between the main roads.
A Dongcheng map poster is a study in contrast between a small, dense centre and the wide patterned country around it. Plantation rows, field boundaries and village lanes all register as fine lines, so the print has a gentle, textile-like quality that suits the calm of rural Hainan.

Village network
